Woodhouse Activity Centre Restoring Slide Access

Safe Access Solutions were recently approached by Woodhouse Activity Centre  to repair their famous “Giant Slide” after a tree had caused a fair amount of damage from falling on the structure during a storm. This called for action by SAS’s resident scout leader- Glen Devison who with the assistance of former cub scout Jack Plant set about restoring access to the giant slide and stairs . This process involved some ‘Bush Bashing”and the long suffering SAS Rodeo was pushed in reverse up a steep goat track to enable the debris to be loaded and removed from site ,

Glen has been a scout leader for 6 years and attended the 2013 National Jamboree in Maryborough QLD as a leader with 1/14 Brighton Sea Scouts. As a scout Glen also attended the 11th Australian Jamboree which was held in Dandenong Victoria in 1976. Jack attended cubs with the Southern Barossa Scouts in Sandy Creek. The Woodhouse Activity Center has hosted the Australian Jamboree 3 times in 1973,1988 and 2004 .

We do need to go back and repair other areas however as it is still fire ban season we will wait until the season ends and it is safe for hot works.

Below are some  before and after photos showing  the damage from the storm as well as the replacement ladder regaining  access to the giant slide, it also shows the trusty Rodeo almost up to the top of the slide. Glen is shown proudly wearing his AJ2013 hat.

Before photo, showing timber stairs completely stripped away from platform from fallen tree.

Our trusty rodeo working hard as always.
